second thoughts
all through the 2016 preidential campaign i was puzzling over which political figure don trump reminded me of and i started this blog when i startled myself by realizing it was slobodan milosevic and his use of the kosovar serbs as a political foil...and i abandoned it fairly soon after when the results of the 2020 election were in and the premise of a national disintegration seemed to become absurd...events of the past few months ( and even moreso the past few weeks ) have me rethinking that...california national guard to portland ( a progressive city still,i think, imbued with the spirit of the iww )...texas national guard to chicago...cowboys on the south side? a recipe for a disaster and i begin to think that is exactly the point...this is not about "fighting crime" or "insurrection"...it is planned provocation designed to establish or excacerbate civil unrest as a rationale for further authortatian measures...the federal government is an abstration at best and, for the moment, defunct which is exactly what don or, moreover, his handlers want...more lattitude for basically unconstitutional actions the kangaroo supreme court will allow...with pritzker and newsom threatening to take their respective states out of the national governor's association if it does not comdemn don's inflamatory use of the national guard the political culture is showing obvious strain and i can easily see the governors of some states chuckling as they add fuel to all of this...i can recall moments in the 1970s when things were as deeply divided...cooler heads prevailed then...however, at that time, congress had a spine...the current crop of lawyers and conspiracy theorists seem to be mostly at sea...rendered stupid by dogmatic sycophancy...( not that i ever had that much faith in congress...)
so the idea of a renewed civil war doesn't seem so far fetched as it did a few years ago...it may be a part of the political agenda that the current adminstation holds...or, at least, something they would not be afraid to pursue if it held out a promise of profit...both political and economic
